One of my current heart art projects is something I've wanted to do for a long time...The Luminous Tarot.

I've always loved the rich symbolism of the traditional Rider Waite Tarot deck, as illustrated by Pamela "Pixie" Colman Smith. So, I’m using this iconic deck as my guide. I'm following A. E. Waite's symbolism and Pixie's theatrical styling, but putting my own spin on things. I’ve been reading Tarot for a few decades, so I have a few ideas. ;)

Firstly, diversity of skin tones and ethnicities is paramount. Secondly, I'm striving to clarify the symbolism and draw attention to previously hidden elements wherever I can. For instance, the eagle on The Fool's bag and the kinds of trees behind The Empress have been distorted in re-prints of Rider Colman Waite; in my images, they are clearly discernible.

10/8/2023: Brigid is still working on the Luminous Tarot; it is not yet complete. She has to work on the deck between paid art projects since she is a full-time artist, and the Luminous Tarot is a personal labor of love. When the deck is complete, it will be published and widely available.
